What happens after my procedure?
You will be watched in the recovery area and given medicine as needed to help with pain or nausea. Most people feel well enough to go home the same day. Once in a while people may spend a night in the hospital to recover from the procedure.
You will most likely go home immediately afterwards.
You can drive yourself unless your clinician tells you not to.
There are no restrictions on activity or showering after an arthrogram.
Take off the bandage before bathing.
Sometimes the procedure can cause joint pain. The pain tends to peak around 4 hours after the procedure and gets better within 1 week.
When to call your clinician or 911?
Fever of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher
Bleeding or swelling at the treatment site
Uncontrollable pain
New skin changes, like redness or darkening of the skin
