What happens after my procedure?
Often people are allowed to go back to their room or home after the procedure.
Keep the site and dressing dry and clean. Do not remove the clear plastic covering over where the tube enters the skin.
Keep the dressing dry when you shower.
If your dressing gets soiled or wet, a healthcare professional should replace it. Alternatively, you can change the dressing if you were taught how to do it and have the supplies.
Do not remove the caps on the end of the tubes.
You will be given instructions about how often you need dialysis, when, and where to go.
