What happens after my procedure?
You can go home right after your thyroid biopsy. You may notice tenderness for a few days.
You will be given an ice pack to help with discomfort. Put it in the freezer when it warms then use it again.
You can also use Tylenol, if needed. Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen or naproxen until after the day of the biopsy.
You can return to all of your normal activities immediately.
It takes up to 7–10 days for the results of the biopsy to come back. Talk to your clinician about how you can expect to receive the results. Make sure your telephone number is correct. Feel free to call your clinician if you have any questions.
