What happens after my procedure?
You can go home after the procedure. Many patients have temporary bruising, soreness, and tightness where the vein was treated.
Depending on how your veins were treated, you will likely be asked by your clinician to wear compression stockings at least while you are awake. This helps the abnormal vein stay closed and helps the treatment work.
Walk at least 2 hours each day for 2 weeks.
Avoid long periods of not moving around, such as long car rides or flights for 2 weeks
Avoid lifting greater than 15 pounds for 2 weeks
Avoid swimming or soaking in water for 2 weeks. Showers are fine.
You will return for a follow up ultrasound and clinic visit to see how you responded. Clinicians often have patients follow up in 1 week to 1 month after treatment.
